ATLANTIS Engineering is an SME with a long-standing experience in offering services and bespoke products to the manufacturing industry, with emphasis on the decision support for the management and optimisation of production activities and assets’ life-cycle, and for the quality assessment of multi-stage production outputs. The company supports the clients in understanding and prioritising the smart manu-facturing route towards cognitive manufacturing, CPS, and Industry 4.0; and in obtaining a holistic view of their plant performance.

ATLANTIS has successfully supported and organized more than 100 Technical Departments of manufac-turing companies, service companies, hospitals, and ports through the implementation of an in-house de-veloped Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Furthermore, they organise the annual “Greek Maintenance Forum” (www.maintenance-forum.eu); and the company’s CEO is the Chairman of EFNMS (European Federation of National Maintenance Societies, www.efnms.org). Loulis Mills is currently active in Greece and Bulgaria with four state of the art production plants at Sourpi, Keratsini, Thiva and Toshevo, occupying the 1stposition in the Greek Flour Industry in terms of milling, sales and technology.

The excellent and stable quality of its products is ensured through a highly equipped chemical laboratory and its experimental bakery where there is detailed monitoring during all the production stages under strict rules of hygiene.

Loulis Mills features the best and largest nationwide distribution network with a large fleet of privately-owned trucks and silo carriers as well as many associate carriers serving customers from Evros to Crete.

Innovation, quality and ecology are the key notions embraced by KEBE S.A. (Νorthern Greece Ceramics), which has been active in the production field since 2008. Its goal is to launch new products of high quality, bioclimatic design and clean building technologies. Thus, it is the first company to introduce to the Greek market building materials that are truly and largely energy-saving and economic. KEBE facilities extend to a privately – owned area of 200.000 m2, comprising a total structured surface of 42.000 sqm2 in a strategic location in Nea Santa of Kilkis.

They are situated very close to Egnatia Highway and to its vertical axes, at the borders of Greece within the broader Balkan region, at only 25 km from the Thessaloniki port.

The ideal combination of the state – of – the – art technology with the high quality of KEBE products creates the necessary conditions so that each and every one of the company’s products is fully harmonized with the regulations and provisions of the Greek and European regulations. Nevertheless, KEBE’ s strength rests in its people. DUTH was founded in 1973 and today consists of 18 departments located in Thrace, Greece. The administration of the funded projects of DUTH is done by the special account of the research committee, which consists of 40 specialised personnel and possesses a contemporary accounting information system. During the last 5 years it has managed a gross of more than 70M€ of funded projects from several sources (EC, ESA, National resources, Industry, etc). The School of Engineering located in Xanthi consists of five departments. The Department of Production and Management Engineering was established in 2000, in Xanthi. Today the Department has 19 permanent members of teaching and research staff and approximately 800 undergraduate students and 50 doctoral ones. The objectives of department include the programming of the production process; the research, design and automatisation of the production; decision making and management. The proposed work will be carried out in the Laboratory of Robotics and Automation at the Department of Production and Management Engineering. The objectives of the Laboratory are to cover the educational and research needs in the scientific disciplines of automation, robotics, mobile systems, computer vision, intelligent systems, as well as safety in robotics systems and HRI. Standardisation in robotics is another topic of study in the Lab, while Antonios Gasteratos is a member of the IEEE Ontologies for Robotics and Automation Standard Working Group.
